Role overview
The Senior EDI Integration & Transaction Engineer will lead the assessment, documentation, and modernization of enterprise EDI and B2B integration capabilities. This role is responsible for analyzing existing EDI transaction flows, trading partner integrations, mapping frameworks, and communication protocols, while defining a future-state integration architecture aligned with modern cloud-native practices. The individual will ensure business-critical transaction processing remains reliable throughout the modernization effort and provide technical leadership during implementation.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead discovery and assessment of existing EDI architecture, transaction processing, and B2B integration workflows.
- Document end-to-end transaction flows, including X12, EDIFACT, acknowledgements (997/999), mapping processes, trading partner configurations, and integration dependencies.
- Analyze transport protocols including AS2, SFTP, FTP/S, HTTPS, APIs, and messaging platforms.
- Assess mapping frameworks, transformation logic, validation rules, routing, exception handling, and transaction lifecycle management.
- Work closely with solution architects to ensure EDI transaction flows, trading partner touchpoints, and acknowledgement workflows are incorporated into dependency mapping and modernization planning.
- Identify integration bottlenecks, technical debt, operational risks, and opportunities for modernization.
- Define the future-state EDI integration architecture, including API enablement, event-driven integration patterns, cloud-native messaging, and Azure-based integration services.
- Recommend Azure-native integration technologies, EDI tooling, transaction validation strategies, automated testing approaches, and deployment patterns.
- Support migration planning by defining transaction migration sequencing while ensuring uninterrupted trading partner connectivity.
- Provide technical leadership during implementation, including integration development, partner onboarding, testing, and production readiness.
Required skills and qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience designing and implementing enterprise EDI and B2B integration solutions.
- Deep expertise in ANSI X12, EDIFACT, trading partner onboarding, transaction mapping, routing, validation, and acknowledgement processing (997/999).
- Strong experience with EDI communication protocols including AS2, SFTP, FTP/S, HTTPS, and API-based integrations.
- Experience with enterprise integration platforms, mapping engines, middleware, and message transformation frameworks.
- Strong understanding of Azure integration services, including Azure Logic Apps, Azure Service Bus, Azure API Management, Azure Functions, Event Grid, and Azure Storage.
- Experience designing scalable, resilient integration architectures using API-first and event-driven patterns.
- Strong troubleshooting, transaction analysis, and production support experience for high-volume B2B environments.
- Experience with automated EDI testing, transaction validation, reconciliation, and monitoring.
Must have skills:
- Strong expertise in ANSI X12, EDIFACT, and EDI transaction processing.
- Hands-on experience with AS2, SFTP, FTP/S, HTTPS, and API integrations.
- Strong knowledge of Azure Integration Services (Logic Apps, Service Bus, API Management, Azure Functions).
- Experience with EDI mapping, validation, trading partner onboarding, and production support.
- Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
